Why it matters:
With large swathes of the country currently experiencing drought conditions, water conservation is more important than ever before.
Recap:
This summer, expected nationwide water restrictions could force many home gardeners to drastically alter their watering habits. However, reducing the water usage in your garden is easier than you might think. It all comes down to simple common sense. Forgo using sprinklers that throw water up into the air, as most of these fine droplets will evaporate before they hit the ground. Try to select plants native to your area and climate, and remember not to water your garden during the hottest hours of the day.
